According to alinea.id, it turns out that he is the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) of Equatorial Guinea, Baltasar Engonga was arrested following allegations that he recorded more than 400 explicit videos featuring the wives of prominent public figures in the country.
The scandal erupted during a separate investigation into fraud allegations against Engonga, 54, when authorities found a cache of CDs containing explicit material during searches of his home and office.
Among those implicated in the recordings were wives of high-ranking officials, including the wife of the Director-General of Police, close family members and relatives of senior government figures, including President Teodoro Obiang’s sister Nguema Mbasogo and the wives of several government ministers.
The videos reportedly showed meetings at various locations, including Engonga’s office, sometimes with the national flag visible in the background.
The recordings were reportedly consensual but were later leaked online, leading to widespread public outrage and intense scrutiny from local media.
The Ahora EG report described the revelations as unprecedented in the country’s history, exposing what it called a “flagrant violation” of ethical standards by a senior public official.
Known locally by the nickname “Bello,” Engonga’s position has now become the focus of a national controversy, with allegations involving many high-profile individuals.
